Wataru stopped playing his harmonica and took out his flute instead. It was difficult to play the harmonica while moving, but with the flute it wasn't as hard.
This time he moved onto a more melancholy tune called "From a Place You're Not There." It was about two young twin siblings, a boy and a girl, who get lost in a forest and find a mirror. The mirror, however, was enchanted, and when the siblings approached the mirror, the sister got sucked into the mirror's realm, while her brother was trapped on the normal side. They were able to see each other, they were able to see that the other's world looked exactly the same as their own, but they were unable to hear each other's voices. They kept on singing to each other, hoping that one day their voices would reach the other twin.
Unlike most stories about twin siblings (cough cough) this one had a happy ending. The mirror's enchantments eventually broke, and the twins were reunited. It was a tragic tale that ended happily.
After playing the second verse he suddenly stopped and realized that he had no idea where he was. Absolutely none. He looked around. Every tree seemed to be the same as the ones he passed while walking. Suddenly he heard a hollering in the distance, something like hyper laughter. Wataru turned to the noise and decided to walk in that direction. It sounded like a human's laughter. He hoped that it was. If it was some carnivorous animal that made a laughing noise, well, at least Wataru's curiosity would be satisfied.
"Who cares if curiosity killed the cat?" he said aloud to no one in particular. He grinned mischievously at a random tree as he walked by.
He stopped walking abruptly as soon as he saw the source of the laughter ahead. Two teenagers and one adolescent stood together in a group. On closer inspection, the adolescent seemed to be a girl. The girl, who had short black hair and intense red eyes, was holding up the face of a boy, who had green hair, close to her's.
"Will you stop acting like a fool?" she hissed at him in exasperation. Then she dropped him on the ground unceremoniously and smiled innocently at the third youth, whose blonde hair was tied back in a small ponytail.
Without thinking, Wataru strolled up to the trio and grinned good-naturedly. "Aaaaand good day to my fellow survivors of this island~"

Ryu looked over at Wataru and tilted her head, he seemed familiar."Uh...hello?,"she said and then looked over back at Mugi and then Len. SHe felt that Mugi and Wataru would get along just fine. They both seemed hyper enough.
She then sighed and looked at the newcomer again with a tilted head.

He just couldn't help it. Wataru began to laugh wildly.
"Ahahahaha! The looks on your faces! Oh goodness! By the way, lady, you look very cute with your head tilted like that." He skipped towards her and smiled in a goofy way, tilting an imaginary hat her way. "Such stunning eyes!" he cried dramatically. "Such dark hair! To be honest, though, I thought you were a boy at first glance. Sort of, anyways. Never mind that, you're a lovely girl, and just my height! I happen to be sixteen by the way, just before you assume I'm a child because of my height and looks." He paused. "My, I spoke a lot there. My apologies!"
He turned to Mugi, rapidly shook his hand, and did the same to Len. "Pleasure to meet you, fellow survivors! You boys are such a gallant and bright bunch, to be protecting the little lady from the scary things of the forest! You have such interesting hair, such a neat little pony tail! You looks like a warrior to me. And you, my friend, look wonderfully dignified despite being covered in dirt! And you even have the same hair colour as me."
Wataru smiled. "The name's Wataru. Nice to meet you all!"

Suddenly, Ryu had picked up Mugi and dragged his face close to hers. She looked pretty darn angry. Maybe she was a spoil sport who hated fun people? Gee, she would get along great with Ace.
"Will you stop acting like a fool?" She hissed, anger in every syllable. Yup. She'd DEFINITELY work well with Ace.
"W-well, I-" Mugi began to reply, but a sudden rustling caught his attention.
"Aaaaand good day to my fellow survivors of this island~" A kid with light green hair strolled over.
"Uh...hello?" Ryu answered, looking tentative and probably not amused.
The creepy kid suddenly started laughing. He had a very long and fast monologue, and then turned to Mugi. Mugi froze, but the kid only grabbed his hand and shook it vigorously, with a second monologue. The only thing Mugi really heard was the end.
"The name's Wataru. Nice to meet you all!"
Mugi was left staring completely blank, every word stolen from his mouth. It totally wasn't his place to say it, but.. but.. this guy was kinda WEIRD. Where did he even come from? Was he like, a person who lived on the island?
"N-nice to meet you, Wataru-san. I'm Megupoido Mugi, at your service."
Mugi tried to gain composure as he stood up. He bowed slightly as a force of submissive and ukehabit.

Len had separated from the group for just a moment, before coming back with a stick. He was immediately greeted by some other person. Who was this now!?
The blond stood there dumbly as his hand was shook, and he was complimented. He already liked this guy! "Hello!" He grinned, saluting a little, "care to join us getting lost for no reason because Mugi-senpai is insane?" His now faulty grin showed a bit of unsure calamity.
Len used the stick he had as a walking stick, "Shall we carry on?" He wanted to at least find some food. He had also been secretly marking the trees they walked by, just in case they really did get desperately lost.

Ryu blushed at what he said before shaking her head and looking at Mugi, and then she sighed and looked at Len before speaking."Everyone. Mugi, dude and Len...and me...will travel through this whatever...and NOT get killed...so everyone please try to act like normal? Ok...rephrase...I don't care what you act like as long as you dont get me or yourselves killed...,"she replied.

So their names were Mugi, Len, and Ryu... Wataru nodded quickly at them, smiling. He twirled the silver flute in his right hand deftly.
"Ryu-san's got a point about acting normal, but I don't think a little quirkiness is all that bad," he said in a sing-songy voice. "'Sides, I've got my flute and harmonica with me. A little travel music shouldn't hurt now and then! Now, let's listen to Len-san and get a move on!"
He pat Mugi's shoulder lightly. "C'mon now, pal, no need to bow to me! Let's go and find someplace that looks good to stay in." He looked up to the sky. "Night'll fall soon."
Wataru adjusted his shoulder bag and beckoned to the others. "Let's get going!" He raised his flute to his lips and began to trill out a tune he knew as "Cantarella".

Mugi nodded and followed. Mugi liked this Wataru fellow a lot. He seemed so perky and nice. And he could sure play the flute.
"Mitsumeau..sono shiisen.. tojita..sekai no naka..." Mugi sang under his breath. This song was very popular; of course he'd know all of the words.

Ryu sighed and continued to walk silently singing along to Canterella, she liked that song. It was beautiful.

Len really enjoyed this song, so he joined with Mugi and Ryu's really quiet singing, except instead he was singing loudly, and happily. He used the stick to swat at vines that got in their way. Then he stopped, and looked around. Were they really lost now?
He looked over his shoulder and stared back at the pathway they had just walked. The shore seemed so far away. He couldn't even see it. He bit his lip, really hoping that they could find their way back. He cut a slit in the nearest tree, and kept walking before (hopefully) the others could notice his sudden stop. He continued on singing.

Ryu noticed his stop but thought nothing of it, she paid attention to the footsteps. To hear any new footsteps that could emit danger. She continued to sing, but louder this time.

Mugi, on the other hand, did not notice Len stopping nor his actions. He kept on walking straight on, singing Cantarella softly.
"Hey," he said suddenly, stopping at a fallen log, "Those are some pretty cool mushrooms."
They weren't particularly special, but in a walk, one was supposed to look at nature, right? Besides, it was nice to enjoy a nature hike.

Wataru took a deep breath after finishing the final notes of Cantarella. He stopped right on time to hear Mugi say, "Hey, those are some pretty cool mushrooms."
Wataru turned his head quickly, causing his ahoge to bounce. "Mushrooms? Mushrooms? Where? Show me!" he squeaked excitedly, like a child raring to see a new video game. His hand flew to his brown bag and he whipped out his small digital camera - just one of the few tools he keeps in his bag to take record of any unusual or interesting things that pop up. He quickly checked its memory and was relieved to find that it was nearly empty.
I must've put in a new chip at... at... home? Yes at home, he told himself in his head. Wataru skipped to where Mugi was.
"Show me the mushrooms!" he said excitedly. "I'm gonna take some pictures."

Mugi looked up at Wataru and grinned. Another lover of science? He could definitely like this guy.
"Oh, sure, they're right over there."
Mugi gestured to the orange mushrooms that gathered on the log. They were pretty normal looking, even with the generic shape of a stem with a round cap. Most of the fungus in the forest were shelf-like structures.
"I don't know much about mushrooms, but these bright colors probably mean that they're poisonous. Let's not take chances!"

Wataru grinned and gave Mugi a thumbs up. "No worries! I won't eat it. I'm just gonna take some photos..." He knelt in front of the log and took a couple of above shots, some shots at an angle, and finally, a direct horizontal shot so that the mushrooms were lines up in a perfect line. He thought that the last shot was perfect.
"Now let's take a look at that last one," he chuckled. Wataru clicked the photo viewer button and took a good look at the last photo of the mushrooms. "Perfect! The log is perfectly straight across the photo oh my gosh WHAT IS THAT."
Wataru stared in horror at the shadowy form in the background. Then he looked up towards the forest - straight into the eyes of a giant black lion.
