Gumi sat in the lobby of the recording studio. She had arranged to meet with a friend to record a duet. She fidgeted, and wrung her hands, flipping her Nokia open and checking the time again. No messages, and 3 mintues left till 2, the arranged time to meet. She tucked her hair green hair behind her ears, and slid her goggles, which had slid forward, further back, frowning. Maybe coming early wasn't a good idea.
Her green eyes bored holes into the revolving doors opening into the outside world. She had decided on what her fans called her 'default' outfit for today. She wasn't sure what today really was, or what they would sing. Besides, she could change of they made a movie or something. She checked the time, waiting for her friend, a smile on her lips, a blush on her cheeks. 2 minutes. She crossed her lips and sighed.
"Aw, come on!" she groaned, hoping she wasn't being stood up.
(hope that works...>.>)

Gakupo finally walked up to the door, a bit confused on how to use it, but figured it out and walked through it. Though he had been born in the modern world, people could say he was sort of useless when it came to technology, and even simple things such as revolving doors. It usually didn't take him long to figure them out though, and when he did, he felt extreme pride.
Looking back at the door as he walked for a brief second, he chuckled quietly to himself and came to a stop infront of Gumi. "Are you doing Magnet with me today?" Of course he knew who Gumi Megpoid was, but he never really talked to her. She was acceptionally beautiful and mature for a teenager of her age. (based upon common knowledge, Gumi is around 17? If so, that's why he thinks she's beautiful. A possible love interest, lol.)

Gumi had nearly gotten up to go home several times, but finally, she heard a voice. She looked up, smiling shyly. "Ah! Yes...you must be Kamui Gakupo! Nice to meet you!" she said, standing up and offering a hand. She took a moment to inspect the man before her. He was quite tall, with a distinguished air about him. He looked like a samurai, with his long, sweeping, purple hair pulled up in a ponytail. He was fairly attractive, and Gumi felt her cheeks color. She ignored it, and turned on her heel after shaking hands. "If you'll follow me...I booked us a studio..." She said, leading the way down the hall to a booth. She opened the door, and revealed the studio. It had a red scheme. There was a mixing board, various instruments, and an attached room for the singers to sing, all set up eith mics. "Do you want to warm up...?" she asked, feeling shy for some unexplained reason.

"I haven't sang in quite a while, so yes please. Just basic scales should do fine. And as for you Miss Gumi?" Gakupo looked to the keyboard and smiled faintly. Miss-Gumi? What was he thinking? Gumi was young, sure, but not as young as Miku or Rin! Without another word, he shook his head and walked over to the keyboard. "How do you warm up? I usually just sing scales quite a few times before I attempt at recording. Even then...I'm usually not happy with what I produce."
Sure, Gakupo had a good voice, but why was he putting himself down? Maybe it was custom to not pride yourself with talents in Gakupo's family. Either way, he began to push the white keys, la-ing to the notes and matching the pitch correctly.
After a few moments of doing it alone, he looked to Gumi and held his hand out to her, waving her over. "Please try...it's such an amazing method to warm up!"

Gumi was surprised. She couldn't imagine not singing. She wouldn't know what to do if she couldn't sing. Her voice was every bit a part of her as was an arm or leg. She blushed at the Miss. She felt embarrassed more than anything. Did he really see her as young? She tried her best not to frown. Maybe it was a slip up. She cleared her expression. He didn't mean to look down on her right. She was saved more embarrassment as Gakupo warmed up, hitting the pitch just right. "wow! For not singing, you still sound really good! I can't wait to hear you sing sing" She said, praising his voice. Oh, this would be fun. Although...did she have to say 'sing sing'. what was she, a 10-year-old? She sighed in exasperation at her mistake.
She obeyed his wave, and stood by the keyboard, running her hands over the porcelain keys, taking a moment to remember their feel again. She had a smile on her face, and then she hit one key. She copied Gakupo's exercise, and wrung out any pitch problems with her higher and low range. Feeling satisfied at last, she faced Gakupo, eyes shining. "That is a great way! I feel so ready!" She said, smiling. She couldn't wait to record. "I haven't done a duet in awhile...or record for that matter" she said, thinking to the last time she had. It had been too long, all the same. She slid her earphones over her ears, and entered the sound-box. "ready?" She asked, double checking everything was working, and that everything they needed was there.

Gakupo sat at the mixing board and turned it on, checking everything before giving her the thumbs-up and turning the instrumental on. "Go ahead. You can sing the first or second part, it has no matter to me." While she began to sing her part, he smiled at some points when her voice really shined through, marking the parts he liked best mentally.
He couldn't believe such a voice came from her! It was sweet, yet mature enough to be mistaken for a woman, not a teenager. He just hoped he would do his part justice, and that they would blend well enough!

Gumi coughed to clear her throat and traced through the opening lyrics. She decided on which part to sing, and gave Gakupo a thumbs up in return. She had to control her excitement. Number one rookie mistake was let your emotion control you singing. Obviously one needed sufficient emotion to sing properly, but it should be present and not dictate. And, that only applied when singing an emotional song, like a song with anger, hurt or sadness. Happy emotions shouldn't infiltrate. It made the pitch too high. Besides. Magnet was a saddish song. She calmed down, and counted out the beats for her intro. There. Kabosoi higa kokoro no hashini tomoru itsuno manika moehirogaru netsujou watashino chou fukisokuni tobimawari anatano teni rinpun wo tsuketa She had decided on the first part. Most females opened...didn't they? She had run through most versions, and that had been her conclusion. She sang through her parts, adding emotion where the lyrics asked it, and following along with all the right pauses. It actually sounded pretty good to her. She finished and smiled shyly, lowering her earphones, the music having ended and entered the mixing room. "What do you think...was it any good?" She asked, nervous he would think she hadn't sung very well. She went about restarting the instrumental for Gakupo to hide her nervousness.

The purple-haired male smiled at her when she had finished and came into the mixing room to ask if she was any good. Really? Of COURSE she was good! Every single note...perfection, and the emotion-a bit too much to handle for Gakupo. Why did Miku get the attention of most fans when all of the talent was within Gumi Megpoid?! He didn't know, but he wouldn't ask questions. It wasn't that he didn't not like Miku, it was just that Miku was the Vocaloid to get most of the attention, if not all. What selfishness!
Gakupo got up and went into the recording room, clearing his throat and waiting for his part to come up in the instrumental, opening his mouth to let the first note come out a bit harshly, but with meaning and perfect tune.
sokubaku shite motto hitsuyou to shite itoshii nara shuuchaku o misetsukete "okashii" no ga tamaranaku suki ni naru ikeru toko made ikeba ii yo
In all honesty, Gakupo loved to sing his solo parts first, then he would have the vocals mixed in, listen, then decide how he wanted to sing the duetting parts to make sweet honey.

She set the music up as he entered the studio, worried that he didn't comment. She let it slide, and gave a thumbs up, the music starting. He sounded nervous, his first note a little too harsh, but it smoothed off, and Gumi was so surprised. He sounded amazing! She had to make sure she wasn't leaving her mouth open, and, thankfully, she wasn't. She was surprised when he returned, and she turned the music off, smiling at the purple haired man.
"That...that was amazing! Your voice! It...it sounded awesome!" She said, barely containing her admiration. "I hope we can harmonize..." She said, fiddling with her fingers. Was her voice good enough to compete with his. "Oh...I noticed your first note was a bit rough...do you want to redo that...or leave it?" She asked, brushing her hair back to give her nervous hands something to do.

Gakupo sat next to her when he came back into the mixing room and smiled slightly. "That was what I thought when you were recording. I thought--how could someone make something so perfect in the world of tainted ugliness?" He bowed his head and stared at the ground, having embarrassed himself a little, though his cheeks didn't taint crimson color with blood.
"I would like to redo it. The song is very smooth, after all, even a bit sad. I can redo it, no problem. I was a bit nervous and distracted with thinking about how we would blend, if at all." He sat there for a few more seconds before heading back in to re-record the first part he had made so aggressive, then looked to Gumi to see if it was good enough.

Gumi found herself blushing at his words. She stuttered, searching for words that didn't come. "Ah...well...thank you..." she managed to get out, flustered. She cleared her throat and looked and her hands. "I thought your voice was really nice too...it had such depth and emotion to it" she said. He had such an eloquence when he spoke. It was really endearing.
"Sure...It's your decision...the first time I sang Matryoshka...i had to re-sing it three times before I liked how it sounded" she said, smiling at the memory. "I hope we blend...i really like your voice, and want to sing again! Maybe even make a song!" She said, smiling at the idea. As he re-entered the recording booth, she replayed the instrumental, and made sure to record. As he finished, she gave him a thumbs up. It sounded smooth, like the rest of his singing.
"So...now we mix it, I guess." She found herself wondering if they would blend. Oh, please let them blend...

Gakupo took his seat next to her once more and intently mixed with her, enjoying the time well spent doing something so productive.
After hours of mixing, deleting, re-adding, and talking, they finally finished, and behold, they mixed perfectly! With Gumi's medium-pitch, and Gakupo's extreme low-pitch, it was perfect. He turned to the green-haired girl and smiled. "I think it might get a number one spot on the charts. We worked so hard! If Miku can do it, so can we." There it was again! Talking about Miku.
His eyes glazed over and he seemed to look sad. "Will we ever match up to her? Sometimes...it isn't fair. She may be the most popular, but it doesn't mean she's the most talented." His brow furrowed and he looked at Gumi once more, frowning a bit. "I'm sorry. Do you want to go get some food to eat Miss Gumi? I am very hungry..."

Gumi smiled up at the samurai as he came to help her. They worked hard, though still managed to talk, even while concentrating. As the last section came to be, Gumi slid her goggles over her eyes, a habit she had developed kind of like a good luck charm, and, completely by accident. She smiled as they finished. She played it over, cringing ather voice, only slightly, and smiling at the harmonies. They blended really well. Her faults were covered by his, and his slips by her. Rarely had anyone complimented her voice so.
Gumi returned the smile Gakupo gave her. "I hope so! That was a lot of work!" she laughed, feeling very proud. "If Miku can do it, we can do it better!" Gumi said to Gakupo frowning slightly at the mention of the number 1 idol's name. She looked over at Gakupo after she pushed her goggles up, and was surprised. Was...was Gakupo sad? She tried to reassure him, not really sure how. She laid her hand on his forearm. "Hey...it's okay! It doesn't mean anything...everyone knows she has the best agents...it's only because of that she has such publicity...we have to make up for it in talent! But, we are not worse..." Gumi said, rubbing his arn in a hopefully reassuring way. Having sung with Miku a few times, she knew she didn't really like all the press all the time, but she was the voice of Vocaloid...
She shoved her thoughts away, and smiled at Gakupo. "I'm starving....food sounds great!" she said. She saved the track to a blank CD, writing their names and the song, and slipped it into her hand bag. "If ypu want...we could try doing a promo pic...for the cover or something..." Gumi suggested, thinking of all the gorgeus black dresses the studio had in their posession.
(b/c...i've always wanted to do a thread like that...>.> xD)

Gakupo agreed to everything she had said and got up to head to to the exit, still thinking deeply of Miku and his partial unfondness of her, though he was still quite nice to her because he had to be, and it was just in his nature.
"We could wear black, and have opposing colored butterfly headsets, and our nails would be opposing colors. As for the posing...everyone holds hands and looks like they're going to kiss. Should we change that tradition into something better?" He tilted his head and thought, eyes grazing over Gumi's short skirt, then back to her face. NO. Do not even think about it. Gumi was 17, not 20 like Gakupo. Was that even legal?
He shook his head and pulled his fan from his sleeve, snapping it open and fanning himself gently. "I feel hot all of a sudden..." Hm...wonder why?
(lol, that's fine! XD Gakupo is getting...ideas. >.>)

Gumi hummed the melody to Magnet as they left, the song in her head. Music was a part of every aspect of her life. She was feeling full of...bliss. That was the best word to describe it.
She listened as Gakupo mentioned what to wear. Black was a must...and the headphones wouldn't be too hard...if anything, they could edit colors on photoshop or something. It really wasn't that complicated, nor a lot of makeup. She felt her smile grow. They could have so much fun with this! She blushed at his description of the pose. Ot was accurate...but embarrassing...she wasn't sure she wouldn't burst out laughing, or go up in flames from embarrassment. She sighed. "On the outfits...what if we tried two...black, smart outfits, and more 'traditonal' ...I mean, you are a samurai...so what if we wore kimonos? Ya know...to get that look across...and then choose the best of the two outfits" she suggested. She was unaware of Gakupo's travelling eyes as she chattered. She heard a snap and looked sideways to see him fanning himself. "hot? Do you need a drink of water?" she asked, facing him and stopping him. She looked at his face...he seemed a little flushed. "Are you okay?" she asked, concern in her green eyes.
(yay! ^^ pfft...haha!)
