Daniel examined the sky. Grey, cloudy, and just plain depressing. It looked like it might rain soon, as grey clouds usually symbolized the coming of bad weather. The wind blew, harsh and chilly, and it sure smelled like rain was coming.
It was too bad. Daniel was having such a fun Sunday. A day off from school really was the greatest. After a walk in the park and a visit to some stores, the clouds threatened to rain down, and Daniel had better get home fast.
The lone history teacher walked the streets as fast as he could. People were already pulling out umbrellas or tightening their coats. Daniel had stupidly chosen to wear only a thin black sweater, a white shirt, and light blue jeans. Not exactly good for surviving wet weather.
Nature was mean. The one time Daniel decided to go outside, it kicked him back indoors with threatening weather. Well, fine then. Home in front of the computer it was. Daniel didn't need weather.
Another cold breeze blew past him, and Daniel shivered slightly. When I get home, I'll make some hot chocolate. That'll be nice.
A new goal was set; so Daniel set on his way. Suddenly, a single raindrop hit against his nose. Uh oh. Plenty more raindrops followed suite and smacked into the pavement, the people, the buildings, Daniel, and everything that was out in the open, of course. Before he knew it, Daniel was surrounded by heavy rain. He couldn't even see more than a few meters because of the heavy falling of water.
"Shit!" Of course, Daniel's accent made him sound more like he said, "Sheet," but that was besides the point. In less than a few seconds, Daniel was soaked, and running blindly. Today he chose to wear glasses, and now it was thoroughly covered in droplets, obstructing his vision.
Now, our poor, dripping wet teacher was charging around aimlessly, desperate to find shelter. Suddenly, he made a turn and the rain was no more. Unfortunately, Daniel's mind did not process that fast enough and he kept running--into a wall. A nice, brick wall.
"Huh..wha...?" Daniel was shocked and dazed for a few seconds. What? Oh, he was under the eves of a building. Lucky save. Smiling, Daniel removed his glasses and tried to wipe them off on his sweater. It didn't really help, as his clothing was probably wetter than his glasses.
Suddenly, as if just proving to Daniel how wet he was, the wind blew once more, chiling him to the bone. Shoot. Maybe there was a way to wait in the building, whatever it was..? Daniel slowly walked until he came across some doors. Great!
A quick push, and Daniel was in. The wind was blocked by the thick walls and the door, and immediately, Daniel felt better. The place was somewhat heated too. Not bad, not bad. What was this place, anyways?
All of a sudden, it hit him. This place was a concert hall! An empty one, though, with rows of railings for the audience to stand and a large stage at the front, with stairs on both sides leading to the backstage. If only the author had actually been to a concert to know how to describe it, and google certainly didn't help. Was there a reception room, a ticket booth, anything? The author had to let that one go.
Daniel remembered the few times he had been on stage with his band a long time ago when he was in high school still. He played the second guitar, so the lead guitarist got all the attention. Not that the band itself was very well known...
Wait, what the- Daniel found himself standing on the stage before he knew it, looking upon the area for the audience and holding the microphone in his hand. It was off, good thing, because now Daniel felt like singing.
What song to sing, what song to sing... Ama no Jaku? Why not. With a quick scan to make sure that the concert hall was completely empty, Daniel took a breath and began.
Boku ga zutto mae kara omotteru koto wo hanasou ka
Tomodachi ni modoretara kore ijou wa mou nozomanai sa
Kimi ga sore de ii nara boku datte sore de kamawanai sa
Usotsuki no boku ga haita hantai kotoba no ai no uta...

Still dripping wet, Daniel smiled. He felt like he was in his element. As he sang the next verse, his voice flowed out with ease, low and smooth like honey. (For a good example, look up Dasoku Ama no Jaku on youtube. =u=b) At least, that was how his friends described his voice. It sure felt great to sing. It was one of the only things that Daniel was good at.
Daniel closed his eyes and imagined that he was actually having a live, a real concert. It was hard when he was soaked to the bone, but with enough concentration (and just enough left over to remember the lyrics), Daniel imagine the spotlights, the music, the cheers of the crowd, all eyes on him--fuck.
Daniel stopped halfway through his made up choreography and stood still, his voice still flowing nicely...ish, but his movements frozen and his face as well. Even with no one around, he had stage fright. Well, that sucked.
So, the song wore on, Daniel frozed in the center of the stage singing Ama no Jaku with no good facial expressions, hand movements, or involvement with the imaginary crowd.
