Shinobu Wakawakashii opened the door into the cafe. She could immediately tell it was busy so she quickly found an unused table and took a seat at it. Although usually companionable, today the woman didn't want company. When she was settled at her seat and had ordered herself a cup of tea she opened her handbag and brought out the book she had brought with her. At these times, reading helped her calm herself and stop thinking about the situation she was in. Finding the book interesting, she became lost in it and was in a sort of trance, sipping her tea between pages.
An offending bleep brought her back to her senses and Shinobu pulled out her phone with a sense of anger around her. This was calmed as she saw the message was from her friend Mamoru. Whatever happened, she could always count on him to help. 'You seem distant lately. Are you sure you are ok' she read. Sighing to herself, she quickly replied to the message under the false assumption that she was completely normal. It wasn't really a lie but something was still bugging her about what had been happening.
When the message was sent, she replaced her phone and mamaged to get back to her book but couldn't lose herself again. Instead, she turned to observe the people around her. They seemed to pay no attention until her eyes focused on one figure

Mugi ran his slender fingers through his messy green hair and pushed the door open to the cafe. IT was one of the best in Tokyo so, as expected, it was busy. In fact, it was so busy, there were no tables free and a huge long line was sticking out of the store for those who wanted to eat out. Well, crap.
Mugi walked in and looked around. Yup, definitely no seats. The line looked like it would take at least an hour before he could get an order. It was too bad. He finally had free time to go to his favorite eating spot, and there was no way he could get his hands on some delicious cake. The Mont Blanc in the display case was begging for him to eat..
That was it! There was an empty seat for Mugi to steal! Well, of course the table wasn't exactly empty, but the girl was just reading a book. She wouldn't mind if he sat and flagged down a busy waiter. Nosiree. Mugi dove for the seat and clambered in.
"Yo! Is it alright if I sit here? Please?"

Shinobu studied the figure in front of her carefully. She had hoped to be alone to think but he seemed a nice enough person so she didn't mind him sitting there as long as he didn't pester. Putting the book down for a minute, she opened her mouth. "I guess so". She picked the book back up and tried once again to lose herself in it but her attention was drawn to her new companion. The woman pondered the idea of initiating a conversation with the bloke but was held back by other thoughts. One of these thoughts was to just keep quiet incase he had heard the rumours being spead around. Taking a sip of tea to help herself decide, she went back to trying to focus on the black and white pages when another bleep erupted from her mobile. Drat, she thought, is there no peace in this world.
Finding the message to be a reply from Mamoru, she relaxed slightly. As predicted, he hadn't believed her last message. Shinobu let out a sigh of anger and her face pinched slightly. It was only after this she remembered the person across the table and felt slightly uncomfortable. Trying to act like she didn't register him, her eyes wandered again around the room

Mugi looked curiously at the female in front of him. She was quite pretty, but scary looking too. She looked like one of those people who didn't have much fun. Probably like Ace. Yup. (An incorrect observation.)
Right now, the woman was sighing and glaring at her cell phone. Some person must have been sending her messages. Maybe it was a stalker constantly asking for her panties. Mugi remembered that he had an event like that and he had to keep saying that he was not a female, but a wonderful and cool grown man. (He is NOT cool.)
Suddenly, a waitress walking by with a tray caught Mugi's eye.
"Excuse me! Excuse me, Miss!" Mugi waved his trying to steal the young woman's attention. He looked like a demented windmill. "Miss! I'm ready to ooooooorder!"
The girl stopped her walking and rushed over to Mugi's table. "Yes, yes, sorry! What would you like, sir?"
Mugi gave his best smile. "Four Mont Blancs, a strawberry shortcake, a black forest cake, and.. two strawberry parfaits. Oh! And a caramel latte." The waitress stared numbly for a second, shocked by the amount. She wondered if the two(she didn't realize that he was ordering for himself) could possibly eat it all without getting sick.
"Okay, so you want.." The waitress repeated the order. Mugi nodded with approval and the waitress bowed before leaving to retrieve the order.
"So," Mugi asked to the girl sitting across the table from him. "What are you reading?"

Shinobu observed her companion as he ordered. The amount he was ordering surprised her and she tried not to look confused so that he would not realise she was observing him. Is he really foing to eat all that food, she thought to herself as the list continued. When he had finished, she attempted to look like she was still reading which seemed to work when she was asked what she was reading. Instead of communicating through words, she opted to show him by lifting up the book so he could read the title on the smooth cover.
The book was a well written detective story that she had been reading for a considerable number of days. The reason behind her new interest in the detective genre was her determination to use the same skills to solve the mystery surrounding her and prove her theory right. The book had given her many good tips and she had started to formulate a plan to put them into action. Of course, she would need the help of her friends but she was sure it would work out. Looking at the green-haired male again, she waited for his response.

Mugi read the title and was immediately disinterested. He was more of a manga person and disliked reading. Instead of trying to think about books, he turned to look out the window. He drummed his fingers against the table and began to whistle a song.
A busgirl rushed over to the table and placed down a black forest cake slice before hurrying off once more. Mugi smiled childishly and clapped his hands together.
"Thanks for the food~"
Then, he picked up his fork and dug in.

When she saw the boy turn to the window, she again glanced at the black and white pages of her detective story but lost focus when her companion's food started to arrive at the shared table. The woman tried to be discrete in her observations and hoped the boy didn't notice she was looking at him.
In an attempt to make conversation with him, she opened her mouth to speak. "Um...I never did catch your name"

"Hmm? Ohm, mahm mame ifh Mufghi!" Mugi spoke, his mouth full of cake. Some crumbs made their way out of his mouth and he had to wipe them up with a napkin. The waitress came back with a strawberry shortcake slice and a parfait.
"Fanhks, Ma'am!"
