Dell walked home as quick as possible, kicking various things on the sidewalk. He was very very frustrated with work, and stormed home in a hurry. He knew that staying up late last night was a bad idea. But how could he with Haku crying over nothing all night? He shoved his hands into his pockets, huffing over his frustration. The sidewalk was just endless gray, until something caught his attention. Dell stopped, blinking stupidly. Something small crawled along the sidewalk, slowly crawling along the cement. It was a hedgehog. Of all darn things, why was there a hedgehog? Dell looked up, seeing a young boy run after the small animal, sweeping it up into his hands. The young boy looked up at him, blinking curiously. "Hey! Watch that thing!" Dell snapped, obviously not amused by the kid's pet. "Shouldn't you go play inside? It's dangerous for a child as young as you to be hanging out here. Go back inside and show it to your mommy. Go draw a pretty fucking picture or something with your crayons. Also, what kind of a pet is that? It's dangerous. Go choke on it." He fumed, wiping his silver hair from his eyes. He decided he would stay, he needed amusement. It wouldn't kill to see this kid cry.

Opa! looked so cute playing in the grass. Piko couldn't resist taking the small hedgehog out of his spacious but confining cage and playing with him in the yard. He didn't do it often enough, mainly because his mum yelled at him when he did, but Opa! was just too cute not to do things like risk getting in trouble for. Especially with her little pink ribbon. "Awwwww Opa!, why are you so adorable?" He asked with a little squeal, petting her pines gently. She mewled back and scampered off onto the sidewalk. "Ahhh no Opa!, you're not supposed to do that." He scooped her up, not even mad. Apparently the person she walked in front of was.
Piko slowly looked up at the man, blinking, taking in his features. Legs, body, arms, neck. When he got to the man's face he stopped and stared, whatever the man was saying completely lost. He was mesmorized. Patiently he waited for the older gentleman to stop yelling, probably about how great the day was, before telling him what he thought.
"WOW MISTER, YOU HAVE SUCH PRETTY EYES!" He was awestruck, how did someone even get eyes that colour? "They're so red, oh wow!! Even the white is red! How did you do that mister? You're so cool, wow!!!" Opa! let out a noise of agreement as Piko smiled up at the really cool adult.

Dell felt a smirk coming on as he watched the younger boy's jaw drop. He prepared for tears and crying, feeling no shame. He was surprised when the kid suddenly began to talk about his eyes. Dell rubbed the back of his neck, wondering what was wrong with this kid. Most of the kids that Dell came into contact with ended up crying at some point, earning Dell a foul scolding from their parents. Not that he cared. But this kid... "..E-Excuse me?" Dell blinked, staring down at him. He had no words. Did nothing that Dell had said stick to him? Why was he going off about his eyes?

Petting Opa! excitedly, Piko bounced up and down as he explained. "Your eyes, your eyes! Mister, they're so beautiful and red and pretty and wow! Wow, WOW! You're so cool Mister, how did you get that cool? I wish I could be as cool as you." He continued to observe the older male, taking in more features. His hair was also cool, as were his face and the clothes he hadn't focused on before. "You are the coolest adult ever, I hope I grow up to be like you." He placed Opa! on his head so his hands would be free and grabbed the adult's hands in earnest. "I'm Piko, it's so nice to meet you!! You look so important and cool and just wow. Mister, what's your name? I'm sure you have a cool name too!!!"

"W-Wah!" Dell stammered, staring at the boy Piko grabbed his hands and began to roll on his heels. He was somewhat startled by this. What was he even doing? "U-Uh, my name is Dell." He frowned. Why did this little kid want to know his name? and why was Dell TELLING him his name? Dell then snatched his hands back, shoving them back in his pockets as he stepped back. "Go home, kid. Find someone else to bother. Don't you have any friends?" He snapped, huffing as he stormed back down the sidewalk. He hoped this kid would find somewhere else to direct his attention.

"Dell..." His name was so cool. Piko liked the way it sounded and felt it very much suited this cool adult. He also felt so flattered that this gentleman of epic proportions wanted to know about his friends! They were getting close already, he was so excited. Piko followed him down the sidewalk, a wide grin steadily spreading on his little face. "Mr. Dell, I'm so happy someone as cool and awesome as you are asking me about my friends, gosh you're so great!! Well you've already met Opa!, my little hedgehog. Isn't she soooo cute?" Opa! had nestled into Piko's hair and fallen asleep by this point, comforted by his presence, so he couldn't pick her up and show her off some more. He simply gestured frantically at his head until Dell took notice of her.
"Oh oh and I have a really great best friend. He's the best EVER and we go on adventures together and he has lots of brothers and we eat a lot of ice cream because of one of them who's really tall and has blue hair and it's so pretty!! I always stare at it, it's so pretty and great, but not as great as you Mr. Dell, you're so great. You're my friend too because we've already met and you're just so awesome! Where are we going Mr. Dell? Are we going off on adventures?" He followed, sticking close his new friend, eager to not miss one second of their epic adventures because he was sure Dell was taking him to someplace great. Maybe to treasure! Maybe Mr. Dell was a pirate and they were off to pillage the land and take booty and say "arr" a lot! Piko was so excited he couldn't contain it, his enthusiasm radiating from every pore of his body.

"I'm going home." Dell snapped back, before Piko would start off on another rant about something ridiculous that he did NOT care about. "I'm going home, and I'm going to bed. That's what I'm doing. I don't know what YOU'RE doing, but that's what I'm doing. Go play with your Opa! or something, I don't care. Just don't bother me anymore!" He straightened out his shirt, reaching into his pants pocket and pulling out a package of cigarettes. He popped one out, then lit it up. He stuck it between his lips, taking a long drag before he blew it out through his nose. He hoped that he told the little kid off enough to make him cry or something, or at least not bother him.

His excitement diminished instantaniously. Opa! sensed something was up, squeaking in distress as Piko stopped dead in his tracks and stared at Dell. "I'm..bothering you?" He asked quietly, shocked that someone as awesome as Dell would have reason to think that. Tears welled up in his giant, shota eyes. "I'm..I'M SORRY MR. DEEEEEEELLLLLL." He wailed, bawling his eyes out in the middle of the sidewalk. "I DIDN'T MEEEEEEAAAAAAAN TOOOOOOOOOO I JUST I JUST...AAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA." His eyes were hurting from crying so hard but he couldn't stop. He was so heartbroken that his new friend would say something like that, and so disappointed in himself for making his friend annoyed.

Dell watched as the excited boy just turned into a pile of sobbing mess. Even though this was the kind of reaction that Dell wanted in the first place, he wasn't expecting to cry this hard. Dell looked around quickly, seeing that some passerbys were shooting strange glances at them. He stepped forward, pulling the boy into an awkward embrace. This was the only way that Dell really dealt with seeing people crying. Whenever Haku cried, he would hold the woman until she stopped crying. But with this kid. What was he doing? Dell pulled away again, coughing awkwardly. "U-Uh, yeah. Sorry kid. I didn't mean to, uh... offend you like that?" He stumbled, then quickly spun around and began to walk back to his home, hoping ONCE AGAIN that the kid would come to his common senses and go home.

Piko felt his tears instantly being healed by the magic of Dell's arms. His face lit up, the remnants of tear tracks evaporating without a trace. It was like he'd never even started crying.
But there was something he couldn't get over. Hurrying after Dell, he tugged at his arm impatiently until the man looked down at him. "Mr. Dell, why do you smell so bad?" He asked with a frown. Weren't adults supposed to smell nice? His parents always did, and so did his best friend's brothers. All the adults he knew smelt so lovely and nice, like flowers and candy, but not Dell. Piko couldn't even think of something bad enough that Dell smelled like. "Why do you even smell like that? Did you rub yourself in your cigarettes? Why would you do that Mr. Dell, that probably really hurt. All burny. Mr. Dell, you're kind of silly." Instantly regretting his choice of words, Piko quickly and in a rush shouted "BUT YOU'RE STILL COOL I DIDN'T MEAN SILLY AS IN STUPID THAT WOULD BE MEAN AND I WOULD NEVER SAY THAT ABOUT YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE TOO COOL TO BE STUPID EVEN THOUGH MY MUM SAYS SMOKING IS REALLY STUPID AND DOESN'T DO IT AND LAUGHS AT PEOPLE WHO DO I WOULD NEVER THINK THAT ABOUT YOU MR. DELL AND OPA! THINKS YOU'RE COOL TOO SHE DOESN'T THINK BAD THINGS ABOUT YOU EITHER I'M SORRY IF YOU THOUGHT THAT." He panted, taking in many deep breaths and hoping that Dell understood.

As Piko rambled forever, Dell stared at him with a confused expression. Why was he even telling him this stuff? Wasn't Piko in tears the moment before? And suddenly he was rambling about everything and anything that Dell didn't want to hear about. "Do I smell bad? I'm sorry you think so." Dell said simply, taking another drag, seeming hardly affected by Piko's words. He searched for any open opportunity to flee and go home, not even looking back at the younger boy. Stopping, he turned to face Piko. "Why don't you go home? It's late. Your mum is probably worried about you." Dell muttered, shoving his hands in his pockets, snatching his arm away from Piko. His cigarette in his teeth like a boss. He wanted to leave quickly, for he left an open opportunity for the boy to ramble about something else. Dell began to walk again, picking up his pace. This kid just didn't seem to get the message.

Still out of breath, Piko clung to Dell's shirt to keep up with him until he could speak again. Opa! still rested in his hair, back asleep because nothing bad was going on anymore. Her owner was ok.
When he could finally speak, he didn't hesitate or let go of the kind of gross shirt. Why did he think his clothing was cool, it was so dirty? Dell probably had his reasons because he was awesome. "No, my mum won't mind as long as I tell her later when she gets home from work. She probably won't be too happy I took Opa! outside again, but won't mind that I was at a friend's house because you're so nice Mr. Dell. You're definitely my friend. I love you, you're so cool." He gave him a brief hug, not inhaling. He remembered the last hugging experience and didn't want a repeat. Still holding his shirt, Piko looked around at the neighbourhood. They were still within sight of his house so it wasn't too bad. He wondered which house was Dell's, it was probably the most awesome house on the block.

Dell stared at him, his jaw hanging open lightly. He stopped walking again as he tugged himself away from Piko once more. He let out an angry grunt, blowing out smoke through his nose before he tapped away the unwanted remains of the cigarette. "I'm your friend, am I?" Dell scoffed, almost wishing to mock the younger boy. "I don't know what I did to make you think that." He added, talking more to himself then anyone else. Surely, Dell didn't act this way when he was ten. Were all little kids like this? "I'll walk you home if it means you'll leave me alone." Dell went on, playing with his greasy excuse for hair. "Really, kid. I need to go home. You should do that too." He began walking again, still holding onto the hope that Piko would leave him alone.

"Yeah, you are! You don't need to do anything, I just know you are! You're so great Mr. Dell. Mr. Dell, Mr. Dell~" Piko continued to grin after Dell, turning his name into a song, half-spoken and half-sung. Dell was so great that he was quickly turning into one of Piko's favourite people.
After his mum, his dad, Opa!, his best friend, and his best friend's family of course. They were all awesome and all his favourites too. He loved them so much.
Finishing his song, he bowed to an imaginary audience and continued after Dell, picking up his pace to keep up to his gentleman friend's long strides. "Mr. Dell you still haven't told me where you live! Which house is yours? I bet it's awesome like you. I bet it has lazers in the yard, that would be so cool. Does it? I think that's cool. Do you live in a castle Mr. Dell? I bet you do and you're in a hurry because there's a pretty princess at your castle and you need to rescue her from the evil dragon!! Hurry Mr. Dell, hurry!" His excitement slowly morphing into distress, Piko realized he was keeping his new friend from saving the princess by being so slow. He lightly pushed Dell to hurry up and started jogging as well. Though really if he thought about it, it was Dell's fault in the first place. What was he doing, keeping a dragon and a princess in the same castle? He was just asking for trouble by doing that. "Silly Mr. Dell."

Dell stared at him in disbelief. Really? Even though this kid was only ten... I've never met someone so immature! He thought to himself, rubbing the back of his neck. He squirmed away awkwardly as Piko held onto his shirt, trying to get the boy OFF of him. "W-What? Yeah, sure. You better go home, the dragon at my house will kill you." Dell grumbled, turning around once again to face Piko. "He'll eat your hedgehog. You better go drop him off at home!" Dell exclaimed, pretending to play along. If Piko actually bought it, Dell would run for dear life and hope he would never run into that kid again.
