"Mr. Dell, Opa! is a girl! That's why she has a pink ribbon, silly. Pink is for girls, that's what my mum always tells me. I wanted to put blue and green on her like my eyes but those are both boy colours so I couldn't." It had made Piko very sad that day, crying for roughly an hour before he realized that, as always, his mum was right. Plus pink really did suit Opa!, it complimented her eyes and made her look so pretty! He patted her affectionately on his head and refocused his attention on Dell.
He did so by running ahead of him and stopping, planting his feet firmly in the sidewalk and looking up at him with the most serious face he could manage. "Mr. Dell." He said in a huff. "Don't you think you'll need help killing the dragon? You can't do it alone, dragons are too strong! He'll eat you and then I'll be sad because you're my friend. So I'm going to help you save the pretty princess and you can't stop me." To emphasize his point, he crossed his arms firmly in front of his chest. This usually worked with his dad and Dell was a male adult too. To Piko, the logic was flawless.

Dell huffed, obviously annoyed at this point. "Do I care? No! Shut up." He snapped, crossing his arms as well. He stared at Piko, almost having a stare down. "The dragon will eat you. Go home, kid." Dell grumbled, waving his hand as he began to walk back down the sidewalk. Dell knew that he should have taken the bus today, but no. Now he was stuck with this kid and his hedgehog, forever being bothered. His sister and brother would laugh at him forever if this kid ended up following him home.

It wasn't working! Dell was still going off to fight the dragon on his own like a brave, lone knight. Piko wouldn't be able to handle his guilty conscience if he let his friend venture off to die like that! It was too sad for him to even think about, and he didn't want to do this but he had no choice. He had been reduced to resorting to the last thing all great friends did when they don't want their friends to go on suicide missions.
He jumped on Dell, clinging to his leg with all the strength his 10 year old body could muster. He really, really wanted to tell his friend why he was doing this but Dell had told him to shut up, probably for Piko's own good and probably not for the first time but he hadn't been listening because he had been so worried. Instead, he let out a quiet whimper and hoped Dell would somehow understand that way.

Annoyed, Dell let out a loud grunt. Maybe if he just played with the kid, he would give up and go home. He grabbed Piko, and threw him onto his back. He held onto the young boy's legs, giving him a piggyback ride. He hoped he wouldn't run into any co-workers, or ANYONE in general. "Alright, Let's go save the princess then." Dell mumbled, his voice the very opposite of excited. He made sure Piko was in a secure position before he began to walk down the sidewalk, blowing smoke out from his nose still. He let his silver hair fall down in his face, hiding his embarrasment.

It had worked!! Dell was no longer going off to die courageously but solitary, he was letting Piko be his wingman. His right-hand, the man boy who would back him up and help him take down the beast. He wouldn't take credit though, it was Dell's princess not his. Opa! was more than enough for him. He couldn't help wiggling around on his friend's back in joy, worry abandoned in favour of cheerfulness once again.
The world was so small compared to before, now that he was higher up. Piko was amazed, how did Dell manage to get by on being so high off the ground? He clung just a little bit closer, using both his arms and legs. He didn't want to fall, that was for sure. Opa! was secured to his hair by his weird, only curly lock of hair.

Piko squirmed around on Dell's back, making him grunt. He eventually dropped his arms, figuring the small boy was holding onto him tight enough to not fall. Dell muttered something under his breath. Surely he wasn't taking the kid all the way home, right? If Haku or Hakuo were at home, they'd probably laugh at him for twenty minutes. Dell didn't have any friends to begin with, not to mention a small kid. "Stop moving." Dell snapped, annoyed with the squirming child.

"But Mr. Dell I'm so excite--OOPS I TALKED I'M SORRY, I know you said not to but I'm just so happy and excited because you're letting me help! You're not going to die on your own, you're letting me be your back-up, your right-hand man, your pal. I heard a person on tv say once that people like us are called 'palhonchos' but I don't know what that means exactly and neither does Opa! so I don't think I would call us that, more like Knights in Arms!!" Piko explained in a rush, though he complied with Dell's request and managed to stop squirming. It was difficult enough as it was holding himself up after Dell had let go of him. He would enjoy the scenery some more but he still had important things to say. Such as: "So Mr. Dell, is your princess pretty?"

The more they walked, the more irritated Dell became. He would do anything to get rid of Piko at this point, except making him cry. Dear god, he didn't want to see that again. "The princess is pretty." He muttered, "But I bet the dragon already ate her, so there really isn't any point in you coming with me." He slowly bent over, making Piko slid off of his back and onto the ground. He straightened out his clothes, then pulled his cigarette from his lips and tapped away the unwanted ashes.
[HE SHOULD THINK HAKU OR HAKUO IS THE PRINCESS. = w=]

Piko gasped, staring at Dell in utter disbelief. Opa! squeaked from her perch, vocally mirroring his thoughts. The dragon already ate her? "No way Mr. Dell, dragons don't do that!! They always, always, ALWAYS wait for the knight to show up so that they can make it into a game!! Don't you know anything about dragons?" By this point, Piko had latched onto Dell's arm and was staring up at him, eager to show off his knowledge but mostly to let him know what a silly man he was. Though he wasn't pressing his face too close to him, he already knew what the man smelled like and he didn't want the scent invading his nose again. He hung off Dell's arm like a lookout pole, raising one shota hand to his face to see a vaster distance. "Come on Mr. Dell we can still save her! We need to gooooooooo~!"

Dell let out a grunt, not happy with the situation. No matter what he said, Piko kept clinging. They were only a few feet away from his apartment, and Dell really wasn't looking forward to bringing the kid home. "Okay, but after we check, will you go home?" Dell asked, throwing his cigarette to the ground before he stepped on it. He flashed his key in front of the sensor, opening the door before holding it open for Piko. Oh please.... just go home. Right now.

"Pffff, you're silly Mr. Dell~" Piko sang happily, skipping after the adult. Wow did Dell ever live in a really big house. There must have been like a billion rooms and floors. Craning his neck to see to the top, Piko couldn't help letting out a loud and rather impressed "woooowwwwww" before turning back to grin at Dell. Scurrying down his neck as if sensing what they were about to do, Piko giggling briefly over the sensation, she perched on his shoulder just as his hand went up for a peace sign.
"Obviously we have to kill the dragon first! It makes no sense to just check on the pretty princess Mr. Dell, the dragon would just kill her after we left! Or maybe while we were even still watching!! Dragons are evil Mr. Dell, and can't be trusted." The peace sign turned into a single finger, which he waggled at the adult in the most scolding manner he could muster. Opa! raised a paw and mimicked his action, until they were both giving Dell a scold-combo.

Dell stared at him, no emotion in his face whatsoever. He didn't even know what to say to that, so he said nothing at all. He walked to the elevator, flashing his key again before pressing the button to the 9th floor. "The dragon probably ate her because you won't stop talking. But we might still have a chance," Dell went on, bending down to whisper into the shota's ear. "So shush, if you don't talk, he won't know we're coming." Dell stood back up straight, shoving his hangs into his pockets as he watched the elevator gradually go up.

He complied immediately, miming a zipper over his face as Opa! settled peacefully into the crook between his shoulder and his neck. He hadn't thought of that, even though he repeatedly told Dell that the dragon wouldn't eat the princess without witnesses. Regardless at least they were going to rescue her instead of leaving her to rot with a beast that would mess with her for years before finally just giving up and eating her out of boredom. Piko stood back, slightly removed from the adult to watch the numbers go up and up. What an interesting house he had, his friend Dell. He'd never been to a house that had it's own elevator.
As soon as he felt it stop and saw the door open, however, action took over Piko's young brain. He leaped out of the elevator with a mighty and fearsome cry of "YAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH" before remembering he was supposed to be quiet. He slapped his hands over his mouth as quickly as possible, glancing over at Dell in the hopes that he hadn't offended him with his mighty dragon-slaying war cry.

Dell let out a miserable sigh, slapping his palm to his forehead before he stepped out of the elevator and walked down the hallway to his room. He didn't have anything to say to Piko's actions, he had no words at all. And normally, Dell could spout mouthfuls of nasty comments. But not now, this was beyond him. "I told you to shut up," Dell grumbled, unlocking his apartment door and holding it open for Piko. The scent of bleach and cleaning fluids immediately over powered everything else. Dell stuck his nose up, figuring that one of his step-siblings had tried to clean, but failed miserably. He pulled out another cigarette from his pocket, then lit it up. "Oh look, no princess. Told you she was eaten." Dell mumbled, running a hand through his greasy silver hair.

No princess...
Tears welled up in Piko's eyes again, Opa! squeak-whimpering quietly in his ear as he stepped into the room. He tried to be quiet but before he knew it he was sobbing alongside her, fat tears rolling down his cheeks. "I'm..I'm sorry Mr. Dell...O-of course she got eaten, I'm only..only a kid a-and I d-d-don't know much about dr-dr-DRAGOONNNNNSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAA." He balled his hands into fists, frantically rubbing his eyes to stop the tears but failing miserably. His friend was probably so disappointed in him and probably so upset on the inside because his princess had been eaten. But of course Dell was stronger than he was, Dell was an adult and Piko had to try and emulate him in this matter. He just couldn't, he was too young. His eyes stung, his nose was burning due to the acrid smell in the air, and his friend didn't look happy.
Piko was the worst person, ever.
